MacIntyre, Donald Joseph Age 83 years of MacInytre Mountain, Inverness County., passed away suddenly in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Born on MacIntyre Mountain; August 9, 1938 he was a son of the late John Dan and Mae (MacNeil) MacIntyre Donald was a skilled carpenter, taking pride in his many achievements and projects, receiving a gold watch to mark 50 years of service. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #1588. As well, Donald worked for a time on the Section Crew with CNR. Donald was a devout Roman Catholic, having a strong faith and was a member of St. Mary Of The Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale. Donald loved animals of all kinds, loved working on the land and loved nature. He was especially interested in the well being of his nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew Donald, was aware of his keen ability to trace their family history for generations. He is survived by his sisters, Annie MacIntyre, Halifax, Margaret Chisholm, Dartmouth, Mary Provataris, New York; his brothers, John (Margie) MacIntyre; Gerald (Charlene) MacIntyre, all of MacIntyre Mountain; Dougie (Ida) MacIntyre, Glenora Road; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Archie and Gabriel. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and Staff of the Strait Richmond Hospital and the Staff of the Medicine Shoppe, Port Hawkesbury. Please have your vaccination card ready and with you when you are arriving for the visitation and funeral service. If you are exempt from having a vaccine, you will need to show proof from either a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner. Face masks and coverings are still required. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday October 6th in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday October 7th, from St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made in memory of Donald to St. Mary of the Angels Cemetery Fund or the SPCA.
