MacAulay, James Earl - Saint John, NB formerly of Whycocomagh, NS. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of James Earl MacAulay on Tuesday, May 4th, 2021 in Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, at the age of 71.
Born in Baddeck, on April 24th, 1950 to the late John Edward MacAulay and Mary Sara MacAulay (McLean). Survived by his second wife, Brenda (Storey); daughters, Debora and Doreen (Mark); his stepchildren, Ken, Mandi, Tonya, and Angel; his beloved granddaughter, Emily; brother, Duart (Connie) and sister, Leanne (Neil) MacKinnon; uncle, Sandy (Nancy) McLean; sister-in-law, Johnena MacLean and brother-in-law, Francis MacKinnon; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by parents; loving wife, Katherine Mae (MacLennan) and her parents. Also predeceased by brother-in-law and friend, Richard "Gilligan" MacLennan and many beloved family members.
Jim proudly served as a reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1968 to 1989. A proud steward of Celtic culture, he impacted the lives of many during his tenure as Executive Director at the Gaelic College in St. Ann’s, Cape Breton. MacAulay took pride in his work as a project manager and planner working on the Canadarm Project, the Confederation Bridge, and before retirement, working at Point LePreau Nuclear Generating Station.
The consummate storyteller, Jim always knew how to entertain. Whether regaling you with stories of hunting bologna or helping to pass on the stories and traditions from his beloved Hogoma, he was always happiest when he could make you smile.
He was his daughters’ biggest fan, always quick with words of advice, dad jokes and a big hug. A loving and supportive husband, father and friend, his connections to those he cared for ran deep.
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association. Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, memorial arrangements will be made later, under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
