Obituary
Please share a memory of Sally to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Sue (MacDougall) Hale, 84, of Pictou, Nova Scotia. Sally left us in the early hours of April 20, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Susan.
Sally was many things to many people; wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and a healer in the true sense of the word. As a young lady, Sally started her nursing career at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow and went on to care for people in the Moncton hospital, working in the OR in Labrador City, and finally running the Strait Richmond Hospital Emergency Department in Evanston, Cape Breton. After retiring from nursing, Sally moved back to her roots in Pictou County. She then studied alternative healing with Psychosynthesis and Healing Touch and became a well-known Healing Touch Practitioner helping people for many more years. She touched the hearts and souls of everyone who crossed her path.
Some people would call Sally an adventurer, where her close friends may call her a partner in crime. She had a wonderful sense of humour and was always making people laugh. She was up for anything, exploring beaches with friends and loved ones, spur of the moment road trips, getting lost driving cross country, or grand adventures to other parts of the world.
Sally had a special connection with Mother Earth and all of its inhabitants and could often be found in her backyard enjoying the company of the wildlife residing all around her. Sally's spirit was like no other, full of a warm and inviting light that welcomed everyone. Those who knew her know how special she really was and will now have an emptiness that only she could fill.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Susan (Paul) Landry, Hammonds Plains; son-in-law, Doug Beaton, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Shepherd, Cleveland; Katie Beaton, Port Hawkesbury; Tracey (Lee) DeWolfe, Lower Sackville; and Josh (Jessie) Landry, Calgary, along with her great-granddaughters, Abigail and McKenna. She is also survived by her siblings, Wayne MacDougall, Pictou; Betty Weyman, Ottawa; Rob (Liz) Murray, Dartmouth, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, William R MacDougall; mother, Zena (Harker) Murray (Lester); husband, Robert Hale; daughter, Wendy Beaton; and sister, Lynn Fradette.
In honor of Sally's life, a small private funeral ritual will be held at Re-Earth Lodge when Covid restrictions are lifted. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of Redtail Society and Carma Cat Rescue, or charity of choice. Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting: www.tjtracey.com
