I remember Selena as a bubbly teenager who would spend a few weeks during her summer vacation at my house and we all so enjoyed her visits. It was with shocked sorrow that I learned of Selena's death when speaking with my Mom on Sunday. Having grown up on opposite sides of "The Gulch", and with her in most of the same school grades as my younger brother Patrick, Selena was a part of life along The Shore Road in my youth. It is a tragedy when the course of life's events does not seem to follow the natural patterns of exitence that we too often take for granted in life. Selena left too many words unspoken, deeds undone, and journeys yet to be taken with her unexpected passing. One may, however, merely look at the family and friends that she leaves to mourn her passing, to know that Selena lived as rich and as full a life in her short 46 years, that others can only dream of achieivng. May Selena rest in peace.

My Dear Friend Selena, You were my closest friend in Nova Scotia. I am forever grateful that you sat next to me on the bus to and from school trying to talk to a scared broken teenager for 3 days before I could muster saying hello. Because of that it turned into an almost 34 year friendship. Oh how I wish that our dreams of going to Boston Garden together would have come true. I will always treasure our teenage memories and also teaching me what butter on someone's birthday was. I loved our crazy nights of Uno and the many sleep overs. You have always been there for me and you were there when I had my boys, and celebrated with us when I finally got to see them. I didn't get to see you as much as I would have wanted but whenever I was planning a trip to NS I was always excited about seeing you. I can't believe you are gone.
