Murdock Sheldon MacInnis ~ June 29, 1960 - December 9, 2020
Catherine Deborah (Poole) MacInnis ~ May 1, 1963 - December 9, 2020
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden loss of Murdock Sheldon and Catherine Deborah MacInnis, husband and wife, loving and devoted parents, grandparents, children, siblings, and friends, together on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in Baddeck.
Together they are survived by the center of their world, their four beloved children Jeffrey, Justina (Adam), Joleen (Marie), Jesse (Hannah), and newly welcomed to the world grandson Broghan Murdock.
Sheldon was born on June 29, 1960 to the late John Angus "Jackie" and Christine "Tina" MacInnis. He was gifted with many cherished years with his late brother, Trent MacInnis, and is survived by his admirable brother Terry MacInnis, his wife Shirley and their children Mitchell, Brett (Amanda), and Kristen (Greg).
Cathy was the first born child to parents Nelson and Mae Poole on May 1, 1963. She is survived by her beautiful siblings Keith Poole (Lynn), Brian Poole (Angela), and Kelly MacLennan (Curtis), and their children Wade, Shelby and Brody, and Sophie and Lucas.
Cathy and Sheldon are also survived by Aunts Anna MacKinnon (late Billy) and Margie Ann MacDonald (Rannie) as well as many cousins and dear friends.
They were predeceased by their grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Sheldon "Shek" was a man of many hats, both literally and figuratively. He was the purest blend of warmth and grit. A dedicated family member, friend and worker. From the home he was both raised in and raised his own family in, to the many broader communities he held a hand in, he had a special way with people and a magical ability to form lasting relationships. He left his mark on his workplaces across the country as a proud miner and driller - some of his proudest years were those spent at Little Narrows Gypsum. He spent endless hours and shook many hands in hockey rinks over the course of his life. He thrived in the hockey world, a sport and community that brought him and his family pure joy - even as he navigated his on and off relationship with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He spent many evenings contributing his time as a dedicated Lion’s Club member and Sircom Lodge 66 member, and was practically a personal mechanic for his kids, not letting them leave the driveway without a full and last minute inspection.
Cathy was the heartbeat and foundation for so many. She devoted her life to her family and friends. Between nightly check-ins with her kids and daily visits with her mom and dad, Cathy always made time for the people she loved. She was compassionate and had a gentle presence that nurtured and supported everyone she encountered. She was the glue that held people together. She was a dedicated employee of the Royal Bank of Canada, and a friend to all during her many years as owner of Ralph’s Dairy. Above all, Cathy was the proudest wife and mother.
Together, they created a beautiful life that sprinkled positivity into the lives of those around them. They taught us how to love and be loved. They taught us the value of people and the importance of family and community. They loved each other with every ounce of their being and left this world the only way they knew how — together. They will forever be in our hearts, our community, and welcoming us home.
