LANDRY, Elda "Jessie" - Age 77 years of Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on Monday, November 9, 2020. Her joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed visits from her family, friends, and neighbors and felt great comfort from her church. She loved to win a game of crib, or two, was skilled with a sewing machine, and never missed a Blue Jays game. A visit to Jessie’s was not complete without a few of her "Nannie" cookies which will live on through her great-grandchildren.
For many years, Jessie was involved in her community, volunteering with the Lioness Club, Strait Area Minor Hockey Association and St. Joseph’s Church. When she moved to Port Hawkesbury from her hometown of Westville, NS, she worked for Fraser and Hoyt then the Royal Bank before retiring from a long career with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation. It was in Port Hawkesbury that she met her loving husband Jack and made a life together.
Jessie was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elda (Crawford) Daley. She will be deeply missed by her children, Kara (Anthony) Malley, Vancouver, BC; John (Sheila) Landry; Fauxburg, NS, and Lisa (Edward Hubbard) Landry, Canard, NS. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Kristen (Jamie) Fraser, Fort Lauderdale, FL; MacKenzie Warner, Vancouver, BC; Mitchell (Dominica) Landry, Kingston, ON; Tyler (Janelle) Landry, Shediac, NB; Kyle Landry, Yellowknife, NWT; and Morgan Landry, Fauxburg, NS; great-grandchildren, Diana Landry, Mabel Fraser, Athena Landry, Evelyn Fraser, and William Landry. She is survived by her siblings, Bob Daley, Jenny Gostock, Betty-Jean Sutherland, and Reg Daley. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, John "Jack" Landry; siblings, Gordon Daley, Ian Daley, Jerry Daley, Brenton Daley, Gordie Daley, Jimmy Daley, and Douglas Daley.
