Hanley, Hugh Francis "D.D." - Judique, Inverness Co. With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of DD Hanley in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Sunday, October 18th, 2020. DD was born in Brooklyn, NY, May 25th, 1943. He was a son of the late Bernard J. and Betty (MacDonnell) Hanley. He is survived by brothers, Jimmy (Annie), Bernie (Loretta), Jackie (Jessie); sister, Janice (John) MacEachern. DD was a proud and interested uncle to his 13 nieces and nephews. They, in turn, loved and respected him and each one had their own special bond with Uncle DD. Those that lived close by made sure his water was flowing, lawn was mowed and dinners were in the fridge. Besides his parents DD was predeceased by his step-father, Angus MacDonald and forever loved nephew, Brent Hanley. DD was a 50 year member of the Bricklayer's Union. In the day, he enjoyed horses, golf, bowling, slot machines and card games with his friends, especially weekly games with Al. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the special care and compassion he received from the nurses and doctors in the dialysis unit as well, the wonderful nurses and doctors in palliative care and Dr. Collins. Thank you to Fr. Dan MacDonald for his visit. Thanks to the staff and drivers at Strait Area Transit, they too were a God send. There will be no visitation.
