Parker, Christena Emily – Canso, Age 58 years. With broken hearts we regret to announce the death of Christena Emily Parker who passed away peacefully in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish on Monday, September 14, 2020 with her husband Stephen by her side. Christena was born on April 7, 1962 in Half Island Cove. She was a daughter of the late Vernon Douglas and Effie Viola (Hendsbee) Creamer. Christena will be lovingly remembered and is survived by her husband, Stephen, Canso; sons, Vernon, Canso; Francis, Halifax; siblings, Viola George, Manchester, Guys. Co.; Hattie Creamer, Canso; David (Grace) Anderson, Whitehead, Crossroads and Honey (Eldin) O’Leary, Half Island Cove; and countless nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Christena was predeceased by brothers, John Lyons and Arthur "Tommy" Lyons; 3 brothers in infancy. The family would like to thank Bernadette Creamer for the visits, phone calls and friendship and to the nurses and staff at the Milford Haven Home for taking care of our wife, mother and sister. Christena worked at the Canso Fish plant and call center where she made many friends. Christena was a kind and giving soul, loved crafting, knitting, sewing, quilting and ceramics. She enjoyed the company of family and friends and always willing to help those who needed it. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20th from 11-9 p.m. and Monday, September 21st 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 21st in Canso United Baptist Church, Canso with Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. In keeping with Covid-19 guidelines, all attendees will be asked to provide their names and telephone numbers upon arrival at the funeral home and the church. Social distancing protocols are to be followed and masks are mandatory.
