W. Edward Bond Dec 31, 1929 - July 24, 2020 Bond, W. Edward – Age 90, formerly of Canso, passed away on Friday, July 24th, 2020, in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. He was the son of the late Albert and Ella (Rogers) Bond of Canso. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florence (Swaine), Canso Seaside Manor; his sons, Douglas (Imelda) Dartmouth; Donald (Julia) and Ronald (Colleen) both of Canso and daughter, Helen David (Anthony) of Hazel Hill; 7 grandchildren, Natasha (Wes) of Eastern Passage; Tony (Courtney) of Canso; Marie of Dartmouth; Amanda (Lloyd) Fox Island; Kyle (Mindy) of Tyendinaga, Ontario; Robyn (Wayne) of Canso; Gerald (Amy) of Truro; 7 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Matthew, Grayson, Jordan, Jasper, Bianca and Emberly. He is also survived by his sisters, Gareth Ells (Danny) of Halifax; Shirley Joyce (Curtis) of Sackville; and brothers, Joseph (Donna) of Shelburne; and James of British Columbia. He is predeceased by an infant daughter, Margaret; sisters, Margaret, Helen, Joan, Jean, Pauline and Carol; and brothers, Lloyd, Nelson, Ellsworth and Douglas. A very special thank you to the staff and nurses on "Whispering Tides" at Glen Haven Manor "who took such great care of Dad for the last four years. Dad will be remembered most for his model boats of which he made countless, Dories, Schooners and Long Liners, along with many other oddities of Folk Lore carvings. He spent many an hour in his shed working at his craft. In 1992 he was also featured in the series Sketches of Our Town; "The Town of Canso, Nova Scotia" In keeping with Ed’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no flowers or visitation. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020 for family only. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso.
