Obituary
Please share a memory of Lewis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CHISHOLM, Lewis Edward — 71, St. Francis Harbour, Guysborough Co., died Friday, December 4, 2009, in Aberdeen Regional Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in St. Francis Harbour, he was a son of the late John Joseph and Mary Catherine (Diggins) Chisholm.
Lewis worked as a carpenter/helper in Ontario for many years before moving back to Nova Scotia in 1969. He was extremely faithful to his church and family and started and ended each day with a prayer. He was a member of St. Francis Parish and a member of the St. Francis Cemetery Committee for many years and it gave him great pleasure to have our grounds manicured to perfection. Lewis loved to see improvements to our church and hall and was always exploring new ideas. He enjoyed his wood lot and the peaceful surroundings of the St. Francis Harbour River. He was very supportive of the Rivers and Streams Association and was a member of the Nova Scotia Wood Lot Owners Association.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Florence, of 44 years and their many friends and family; their children, Glenn (Anita), Enfield; Dale (Lisa), Amherst; Theresa (Garnet) Boutilier, Middle Sackville; grandchildren, Natalie, Josh, Adam and Tanner. He is also survived by brothers, William "Bill" (Gerry), Hamilton, Ont.; Joe, St. Francis Harbour; sisters, Cecilia (Alex) MacLeod, Stoney Creek, Ont.; and Ann (John) Power, St. Francis Harbour; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Mary Catherine in infancy; brothers, Howard in infancy, Tom, James, Jack and Eugene; sisters-in-law, Cathy Chisholm and Evelyn Chisholm.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, in St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
