CHISHOLM, Archibald Alexander "Archie" - 71, Orangedale, Inverness Co., died Sunday, December 9, 2007, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Archie was born in Melford, Inverness Co., on May 1, 1936, the eldest son of the late Ena May (MacIsaac) and Michael Chisholm. After graduation from Nova Scotia Normal College in 1955, Archie began his teaching career in Cape Breton for three years before going to Yellowknife, N.W.T. for his fourth term. He then taught in Montreal until his retirement in 1991. After retirement, he came back to his beloved Cape Breton, where he enjoyed working on the land, boating, square dancing, traveling and as many concerts as possible. He spent many fun times with family and friends. Archie will be sadly missed by his wife, Sally; children, Paul (Brenda), Woodstock, Ont.; Lynn (Patrick) Brown, Bronx, N.Y.; David (Sonya), Montreal, Que.; Erica Gouche, Montreal, Que.; stepdaughters, Holly Hynes, Halifax; Shelley Hynes, Fredericton, N.B.; Leah (Chris) Major, Dartmouth; Kimberly (Jason) Hale, Halifax; Allison Hynes, Halifax; also 10 beautiful grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn sisters, Marie (Brian) Wilkinson, Ottawa, Ont.; Sadie (Donnie) Kennedy, St. Andrews; Margaret (Lyle) Wilson, Montreal, Que.; Mary Chisholm, Melford; Ann Fougere, Melford; brothers, Martin (Irene), Valley Mills; Michael (Roberta), Moncton, N.B. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, from 4-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Mass to celebrate the life of Archie will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 13, in St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale. Concelebrating will be Father Allan MacPhie and Father Bernie MacDonald. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends of Archie are invited to a reception in Smith Community Centre, Orangedale, following the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Archie may be made to Central Inverness County Palliative Care or Canadian Cancer Society.
