DIGGINS, ARTHUR JAMES, - Milford Haven Home, Guysborough/Mulgrave passed away peacefully at the home on Monday, July 27, 2009, Surrounded by his loving family. Born in St. Francis Harbour, December 9, 1914, he was the son of the late James and Beatrice (Carter) Diggins. At an early age Arthur was a Fishermen and worked as a Stevedore in Halifax and Mulgrave until he became disabled.
He was a devout member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave where he spent many years volunteering. He is survived by his daughters, Viola (Curtis) Carr, Lower Sackville; Theresa (Art) Carter, Mulgrave; Ada (Chester) Ehler, St. Francis Harbour; Florence Carter, Halifax; sons, Tom(Chris), Mulgrave; Bob(Cathy), Waterville; Eric(Patty), Cochrane, AB. 19 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren and one great-great Grandchild; sister, Stella Martin, Halifax; brother, Bernie, Hamilton, Ont; sisters-in-law, Blanch Henderson and Marie Downton, Brothers-in-law Harry and Charlie Warren. He was predeceased by his wife, Leota (Warren) Diggins; son Harry and grandson Fred Carter. Sisters: Viola, Mary and Betty. Brothers: Ralph, Roy, Jerome and Eugene. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 31, 2009 in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM in St. Lawrence Church, Mulgrave with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Donations in Arthur's memory may be made to St. Lawrence Cemetery Fund or Milford Haven Home for Special Care would be greatly appreciated. Funeral Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home Port Hawkesbury.
