Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JOHNSTONE, Gary Ford – of Guysborough, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on Sunday, July 25, 2021, in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Formerly of New Glasgow, Gary moved to Guysborough where he spent many summers with his aunt and uncle, Robert and Lottie Imlay. He was the son of the late Albert and Kathleen (Imlay) Johnstone.
Gary worked in his younger years in the woods, with Maritime Steel in New Glasgow and later working with CN Rail in Stellarton for almost 30 years, lastly working for an American company who took over from CN Rail. Gary enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking in his spare time and into retirement. His strength of character and always willing to help someone if they were in need of a hand has touched many lives. His pride and joy are his four children.
He is survived by Sheila Wallace; son, Raymond (Marcy); daughters, Heather (Ken), Cheryl (Barry); son, Billy (Stacy); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by infant brother, Alexander.
We the family would like to take this time to thank Guysborough Palliative Care for their exceptional care for Gary as well as Dr. Ranjini and his Nurse Practitioner, William Bland for their above and beyond care of Gary. We would also like to thank Dr. Catherine MacInnes, his oncologist for her care and compassion for Gary while being his doctor. Your special care of Gary will never be forgotten.
In keeping with Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family Celebration of Life will take place. Memorial donations may be made in Gary’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
