Updated Petrus Harry Neynens 1927-2021. The death of Harry Neynens occurred in Inverary Manor on May 12, 2021 at the age of 94. Born in Tungelroy, Netherlands, February 21, 1927, Harry grew up in a family with eight siblings. He served in the Dutch Army from 1948-1950 as a medic in Indonesia. He returned from Indonesia to marry his wife Emelie. They immigrated to Canada in 1952 through Pier 21. They settled in Lake Ainslie where they raised their 10 children. Harry worked at the Pulp Mill in Port Hawkesbury for many years as a Millwright. Harry had a passion and zest for life that was unmatched. He was determined, hard-working and always willing to help. Whether it was farming, gardening, wood working or playing cards he always had a project on the go. He was a member of the Inverness Legion and he was very involved in his local church and community. Harry was predeceased by his wife, Emelie and son, Johnny. He is survived by his daughters, Maria (Peter) McKenna, Catherine (Peter) Nissen, Emilie (David) MacDonnell, Harriet (Geza Szenes) Neynens, Barbara (Ken) Bryden; sons, Martin, Jimmy (Sandra McMaster), Harry (Colleen Rankin) and George. There was a special place in his heart for his 20 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. Thank you to Father Bernie, close friends and neighbours who were such a wonderful support to Harry and Emelie. Thank you also to Dr. Susie and the staff of Inverary Manor; you made Harry feel very much at home and took exceptional care of him. Visitation will begin 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 6, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, West Lake Ainslie. Funeral mass will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bernie MacDonald and Rev. Danny MacLennan officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. .
