Lewis, Thresa Margaret – Age 91, of Hazel Hill/Canso. Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in Canso Seaside Manor. Born in Hazel Hill on November 30, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Vital and Hattie (Rossong) Richard. Due to her mother’s early death, Thresa as a child, was raised and cared for by the Kiley Family in Hazel Hill. Thresa was a longtime parishioner of Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso. She worked many years as a cook at the former Scotia Restaurant, Canso. Thresa will be forever remembered as the "Pie Lady" renowned for her coconut cream, lemon and butterscotch pies. Thresa is survived by her sons, David (Donna), Canso; George, Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou; grandchildren, Jules (Lesli), Toronto; Sheri (Réal), Canso; Allan (Joanne), Dartmouth; great-grandchildren, Allison, Régan, Coleton and Carmen as well as many special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Thresa was predeceased by her husband, Abraham "Abe" in October 1978; brothers, Stanley, Edward "Toots", and Eugene "Hodd". She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers of Canso Seaside Manor where she has been a resident for 5 years. The tender care and compassion shown to our mother, grandmother and aunt will be forever treasured by the family. They went above and beyond. There will be no visitation.
