Fry, James William "Jim" - Port Hawkesbury. We are heartbroken to announce the death of our husband and father, James William Fry, aged 60, of Port Hawkesbury which occurred suddenly on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Point Tupper. Born in Cold Lake, Alberta, he was a son of Hazel (Langley) Fry and the late Donald Fry. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Coffin) and their sons, Kerry and Aidan, Halifax, and Joshua at home. He is also survived by his mom, Hazel, Antigonish; his brother, Robert (Barb), Pictou, and their children Michael and Jennifer; his sister, Susan (Jack) Adair, Sussex, New Brunswick; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim lost his father at an early age, and his family moved back to Point Tupper, and eventually to Summit Park where he lived until deciding to go out west for work when he was a teenager. He worked at many jobs throughout his life including survey asst., stationery eng., heavy equipment operator, snow plow operator and heavy truck driver and that work took him to every province in Canada. He was finally able to work out of Nova Scotia again with Battiste Trucking for the past year and was happy to be home to stay. He was a hard worker and would go where-ever he needed to go and take whatever course he needed, to find work. He was very involved with our oldest, Kerry in kart racing and following the pro-stock tour when he was younger and they won a few karting trophies. He only got to see a few of Aidan's hockey games as he worked away at that time but after Jim got his motorcycle, he was able to take both Aidan and our youngest Josh on a few motorcycle runs for the guy things. He was so proud of Josh with his music and his good marks in school, and with Kerry for getting his heavy-duty truck/transport repair course, and of Aidan for his love of sports and the Q league and having a plan to get where he wants to go. Jim loved his Harley and going on the bike runs and always kept the bike gleaming. As with his Battiste truck - he loved it and kept it spotless. He was proud of our home and his basement rec room is filled with pictures of him and the kids with their kart-racing and trophies, bike runs, and Nascar races. He worked all his life to take care of his family and it wasn't easy at times to have him working away so much. But we survived the ups and downs and I was happy to have him home to stay, having our coffee on the veranda, and just slowing down a bit. So, life goes on and I'll miss my fire maker, home seasonal decorator, shopper, coffee gofer, cook and husband. We've been together for 37 years. We usually said "bye hon" when he was leaving on his truck runs at some early hour ...... as we did that morning. Bye hon - love you. And to all his trucker friends and motorcycle friends - maybe give an extra rev when you're on the road sometime in his memory. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
