Grant, Elliott Harmon - 79, St. Francis Harbour. Died peacefully at home Sunday, March 29, 2009, Elliott was born in St. Francis Harbour, a son of the late Roy Grant and Lydia (MacPherson) Grant. He was a quiet, gentle family man who loved music, hunting, and keeping busy in his garage. He worked as a marine mechanic at the shipyard in Point Tupper, and later at East Coast Hydraulics in Mulgrave. His favourite working years were the ones he spent as a commercial fisherman, which began as a youngster fishing with his father. He is survived by his wife Pearl, (Horton), his daughters, Juanita (George) Wood, Edmonton, Alberta; Janet (Tony), Manchester; sons, Kevin, St. Francis Harbour; Ken (Jennifer), Welland Ontario and Paul (Sandra) St. Francis Harbour. Also leaving to mourn are his sisters, June Sterling, Port Hawkesbury; Ardella “DeeDee” (Bob) MacPhee, New Glasgow, grandchildren, Robbie, Melissa, Jonathan, Travis, Bailey, Alex, Trevor, Graham, Grant, Hayley, Emily and Elliott; great- grandchildren Joshua, Olivia and Sarah. He was predeceased by a brother in infancy and by his brother-in-law Sam Sterling.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in Hadleyville United Church with Rev. James Chisholm officiating. Family flowers only please. Burial to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Elliott may be made to Palliative Care, Guysborough or Hadleyville United Church.
