HIRTLE, Mary Naomi - 88, Manassette Lake, Guysborough Co., passed away Friday, December 5, 2008, with her family by her side in Guysborough Memorial Hospital where she was well cared for. Born in Manassette Lake, Mary was a daughter of the late Howard and Eviva (Diggins) Carr. Mary was a wonderful pleasant sweet woman, who lit up a room with her beautiful smile. She kept her family and friends laughing with her great sense of humour. For many years she lived in Bridgewater with her late husband Don and recently moved back home to where she was born. For 24 years she worked as a personal shopper for the T. Eaton Company, later she moved to Bridgewater where she worked as secretary for her husband’s trucking company. Mary was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bridgewater, and a member of the Bayview Seniors Club. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by her sisters, Gertie Carr and Ann Nolan;foster brothers, Richard Hayden and Andy MacIsaac, numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by husband, Donald; sister, Helen Haywood; brothers, Ernest, Maurice and Sam. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 13, in St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, St. Francis Harbour, Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be to St. Francis Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough.
