HAWLEY, John Alexander "Jackie" - 85, of Port Hood, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007, in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late John and Christina (Gillis) Hawley. Jackie worked in the mining and construction industries, and was a member of St. Peters Parish, Port Hood. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Olive (MacLean); daughter, Marlene, Port Hood; sons, Alex (Mary), Judique; John Angus (Rose), Jerry (Diane), both of Port Hood; Danny (Heather), Bedford; Kevin (Colleen), Port Hood; Tommy (Colleen), Westville; Clifford (Crystal), Donnie (Tanya), both of Port Hood; foster sister, Diane (Lloyd) Spears, Port Hood; 21 grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Sadie Murphy, and Isabelle Hawley; brothers, Neil, Donnie and Douglas.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today in Port Hood Community Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Victor Ozousuanya officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia or St. Peter's Parish Cemetery Fund.
