MacKINNON, Laura Margaret - 79, Mackdale, Inverness Co., died Sunday, November 23, 2008, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Brook Village, Inverness Co., she was the daughter of the late Colin N. and Florence Catherine (MacKinnon) MacKinnon. Laura was a retired school teacher and a member of St. David's United Church, Port Hastings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughter, Carol (Tom) MacLean, Mackdale; sons, Harvey (Karen), Burlington, Ont.; Larry, Antigonish; grandchildren, Derek, Tonia, Bradley, Josh, Sara, Andrea, and Alex; great-grandchildren, Maegen and Kayla; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren; one son in infancy; brothers, Howard and John. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. David's United Church, with Rev. Sheldon LeGrow officiating. Burial in St. David's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. David's United Church or a charity of your choice.
