MacKINNON, Roderick George “Roddie” – 59- We regret to announce the sudden passing of Roderick George “Roddie” MacKinnon of West Bay Road, Inverness Co., formerly of Dunakin, Inverness, Co. on Wednesday June, 11, 2008 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born July, 12, 1948 in Inverness, he was a son of the late John Allan and Isabell (Busby) MacKinnon. Roddie was retired from Stora after 35 years of service as a stationary engineer. After retiring he went to work at St. F. X. University working in his field. He was a past member of the Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Judy, West Bay Road; daughters Marie, Port Hawkesbury, Amanda, Ottawa; step-daughter Cathy Huddleston (James), Dartmouth; brothers Donald J. (Betty), Roseburn, John L. (Nan), Baddeck, Alan (Linda), Glendyre; sisters Jessie MacKinnon, Hazeldale, Marion Lessard (Claude), Thornhill, Ont.; sister-in-law Jessie MacKinnon, Whycocomagh; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Margaret MacDonald, Glendyre and brother James E., Whycocomagh. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 3-9pm Monday June, 16, 2008 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11am Tuesday June, 17, 2008 in Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
