NICKERSON, Donald Elmer- 76, Canso passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 5,2007 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Canso, he was the son of the late Mary Spicer (Nickerson) and the late Angus Munroe. Donald was a member of Star of the Sea Parish, Canso. He worked at the Canso Fish Plant for many years, then later retired from Stewiacke Construction. He was the devoted father of Donna (Charlie) Atkins, Canso, Juanita (Clarence) Smith, Canso, Ernest (Brenda), Dartmouth, Theresa (Cecil) Smith, Canso, Sonya (Billy) Straight, Dartmouth, Linda (Wayne) Erickson, Calgary, Joseph (Ella), Dartmouth, James (Donna), Eastern Passage. He is also survived by sister Eileen Luddington, New Harbour; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and former wife Mona Manuel, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by daughter Margaret Ellen in infancy and brother in law Aubrey Luddington. He will be remembered by the people of Canso, frequently driving around and stopping at his favorite tea spot and Canso Trading Post chatting with Ken Fletcher. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity if your choice.
