LAMEY, Tena Jane - 85, Port Hawkesbury, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007, in Richmond Villa, where she recently took up residence. Tena was born in Maple Brook, Inverness Co., December 9, 1921. She was formerly from Port Hawkesbury and prior to that, Glenora Road. Tena was a daughter of the late John A. and Sarah Ann (Gillis) MacEachern.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph William Lamey; grandson, Donald; her sisters, Jessie Burchell (Glace Bay); Mary Euphemia (Boston); and her brothers, Allan, Donald, Malcolm, Simon and John Willie in infancy. She is survived by her brother, John MacEachern, Port Hawkesbury; sister-in-law, Dorothy MacEachern, Saint John, N.B.; children, Catherine Anne "Cathy" Hawley (Miller), Port Hood; John (Anne Marie), Toronto; Alex (Carmel), Glenora Road; Francis (Martina), Port Hawkesbury; Bernard (Pearl), Nackawic, N.B.; Peter (Leone), Glenora Road; Elizabeth, Toronto; Marion Lamey-Cole (Howie), Queensport; Hila, Glace Bay; Billy (Bonnie), Cleveland; and Marie Noseworthy (Robert), Grantville; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury and was formerly an active member of St. Margaret's Parish, West Bay Road, where she played the organ in the choir for many years. Tena enjoyed sharing her many talents, whether it be her wonderful baked goods, her knitted socks, mitts and scarves, or sharing her music as she did even to the night before her passing, while entertaining the residents and staff at the villa with her piano playing. She was a kind and loving mother and friend, and enjoyed playing cards with her friends at the Evergreen Club and especially spending time with her family. She appreciated every call or visit and her wonderful life was an inspiration to all and an example of true faith, love and generosity. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation 2-9 p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, with a Vigil Service 8:30 p.m. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial to follow in St. Margaret's Parish Cemetery, West Bay Road. Donations can be made to St. Margaret's Parish Cemetery Fund or any charity of your choice.
