MacIntyre, Micheal Simon "Bud"-59, of Port Hawkesbury, passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Born in Point Tupper, Richmond Co., he was a son of the late Patrick and Estelle (Fougere), MacIntyre. He was a retired chauffer for Stora Enso, Point Tupper. Bud was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury and served as a Eucharistic minister. He was past president of Strait Area Curling Club, chairman of the Festival of the Strait and a very active associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43. He enjoyed and loved life, always smiling and cheerful. He enjoyed music, playing cards, curling and bowling. His favourite quote was, "Enjoy life, get what you want today, as you may not be here tomorrow". He is survived by children, Steven (Lisa), Holly, Allan, all of Port Hawkesbury; former wife, Sharon (Bouchie) MacIntyre; grandchildren, Darian, Christopher, Keli, Nathan and Raelyn; special friend, Shirley Anne Sampson, Louisedale; sisters, Dianne (Ivan) Hamill, Mississauga, Ont.; Irene, Louisdale; Maureen (Albért), Port Hawkesbury; brothers, Terrence (Mariliane), Mississauga; Frederick "Bugs"(fiancée Jean); numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by stepmother, Vina; brothers, Wayne, Clifford, Allan, Raymond, Peter; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Irene Fougere, D'Ecousse; paternal grandparents, Michael and Johanna MacIntyre (Point Tupper). Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today with a vigil service at 7 p.m., 2-4, 7-9 p.m. on Sunday with a legion service at 7 p.m., all in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial in parish cemetery. Family flowers only please, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
