RICHARDS, Edward Morris-86. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 which occurred at the Canso Seaside Manor, Canso. Born in Hazel Hill he was a son of the late Vital and Harriet (Rossong) Richard. He owned and operated Richards Radio and TV and also worked as a truck driver, and as well a fish plant worker. He was a member of the Veteran’s Club and also a member of Star of the Sea Parish, Canso. He enlisted with the Pictou Highlanders, and fought overseas with the Queens Own Rifles. He served in Bermuda, England and France. He was wounded in Caen, France in August 1944. He is survived by his wife Louise (MacAllister) of Hazel Hill; daughters, Gareth (Ab) Winmill, Rosalee (Ves) Parker and Crystal Richards, all of Hazel Hill; son, Craig (Michelle), of Hazel Hill; sister, Thresa Lewis, Hazel Hill; brother, Eugene (Marjorie) Richard, Hazel Hill; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Pearl (MacKinnon) Richards; sons, Morris and Kenneth; brother, Stan Richard. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday in the Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, with Father Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
