White, Colin - 65, Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in St. Martha`s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Colin was born in Inverness, a son of the late Simon and Josephine (Basker) White, and stepfather Donald Smith. He was retired from Georgia Pacific Gypsum Plant, Melford, and a member of Operating Engineers Local 721. Colin was a former employee of Cape Breton Crane for 15 years, and Breton Industrial and Marine, Point Tupper. He was a member of St. Joseph`s Parish, Port Hawkesbury and a retired member of the Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Strait Area Yacht Club. Colin loved fishing mackerel. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Bridget (Mulvahill); daughters, Colleen (Jay) Marquis, Sunderland, Ontario; Michelle (Gerard) Morris, Wasaga Beach, Ontario; sisters Christina White, Rhodena (Ches) Hartson, both of Pictou; Mary Cyrilla (James) Deveaux, Buzzard Bay, MA, half-sister Renda Cyr, Ontario; brothers, Arthur (Deanie), Port Hawkesbury; Gerald, Whiteside; special nephew Melvin (Anne), Renfrew, Ontario. The apples of his eye his grandchildren McKayla, Maddison and Colin Morris and Gavin Marquis, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his dog, Shadow. He was predeceased by his step-sisters, Margaret and Dorothy; brothers, Robert, Roland and half- brother Melvin Sr. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with a vigil service at 2 p.m. both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph`s Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial at a later date. Donations in memory of Colin may be made to Palliative Care Society of Antigonish Town and County. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
