Matheson, Alexander Edward - 92, Whycocomagh Portage, died Saturday February 21, 2009 in Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck. Born in East Lake Ainslie, he was a son of the late Dan and Margaret Mary (MacLean) Matheson. Edward was a retired farmer. He was a former employee of Devco Oyster Farm, Estmere; a former employee of Little Narrows Gyspum and a member of Little Narrows Presbyterian Church. He leaves to mourn three nephews, four nieces and two cousins. Edward was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by half-brothers Farquer, Alex and Murdoch; half-sister Christena. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday from Little Narrows Presbyterian Church, Rev. Adam Lees officiating. Burial in Little Narrows Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Little Narrows Presbyterian Church.
