O’Neill, Mary “Alexius”, 75 Mulgrave , passed away Friday, April 24, 2009 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Alexius was born in Mulgrave, a daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Tindale.
She studied in Mulgrave School, furthered her education at St. Joseph’s Convent, Mabou. She was a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church and an active member of the choir. In her earlier years she worked in the office of Loggie’s Fish Plant and did clerical work at the Canso Causeway, and was a library assistant with Eastern Counties Regional Library, Mulgrave. After retirement she did volunteer work at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Alexius is survived by her Aunt Gertrude Slaney, Vancouver, BC; aunts by marriage Anela O’Neill, Mulgrave and Theresa O’Neill, Halifax.; also numerous first cousins. She was predeceased her grandparents Henry and Margaret (Brennan) O'Neill and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation will take place on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, with Fr. Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Alexius may be made to, Mulgrave and Area Resting Place, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. G. Gallivan and staff of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Nursing Staff and Staff of Home Care Nova Scotia. Thanks to Fr.
