Ashe, Norma "Stub" Yvonne "Mommy" – Age 70, of Monastery, Antigonish Co., went home to glory on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at her home in Monastery. She is survived by her husband, Silas; daughters, Shelly (Myles) Forget, Ottawa; Kelly (Greg) McKesey, Ottawa; sons, Blaise (Mona), Monastery; Paul (Veronica), Halifax; Charlie (Heather), Ottawa; Travis, Meteghan; Brian (Pam), Meteghan; Brent, Halifax; chosen sons, Freddy Gero, Alberta and Les Skinner (Kelly), Halifax; mother, Maude MacLean, New Glasgow and step-father, Charles Ashe, Monastery; sister and beloved best-friend, Diane (Leo) Izzard, New Glasgow; sisters, Linda Izzard, Halifax; Lillian Desmond, Upper Big Tracadie; Gloria Skinner, Halifax; Marva Taylor, Toronto; Lois (Wendell) Wyse, Dartmouth; Glenda (Eugene) Jones, New Glasgow; Rhonda (Larry) Hurst, Amherburg; Janice MacLean, Virginia; and brothers, Wilfred (Lorraine) Reddick, Antigonish; Douglas (Gail) Jones, Antigonish; Gard MacLean, Truro; Gary MacLean, New Brunswick; Randy MacLean, Toronto; Reggie (Cathy) MacLean, Westville; Sherman MacLean, Dartmouth; Kevin (Kelli) MacLean, Bedford. She leaves behind a legacy of 25 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and god-children. She was predeceased by her chosen mother, Hattie (Daye) Ashe, beautiful daughter, Stacey and brothers, Sandy and Brian. Also, we would like to extend a special thanks to V.O.N and home care. The time you spent and kindness you showed to mommy is so greatly appreciated. She will be fondly remembered for her open kitchen, loving home, and genuine love and compassion for others. She will be missed by those who often sought her love, advice and guidance. Visitation will take place at her residence 414 Highway 16, Monastery, Wednesday and Thursday after 2 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Tracadie United Baptist Church, with Rev. Pauline Coffin officiating, accompanied by Deacon Alonzo Reddick. Burial in Sunnyview Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the Upper Big Tracadie United Baptist Church or Antigonish Home Care. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
