We are so sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. I first met Bernie when he was at the Tickle school. Many years ago, never saw him since until I met this man at the Canso Marina, we exchanged names, I remembered him right away. Since then we have spent many hours sitting on his deck looking over the water and catching up on lost time., he had a great memory and he loved to tell storied. We are going to miss that man. Although not often during the past years if and when we did meet we always had time to chat of days gone by. My condolence to the Hanlon Family on the passing of Bernie. The family lived in the house in Canso where I was born in 1934. His Uncle, Jim Hanlon was my godfather. I have great memories of my association with Bernie and the older members of the Hanlon Family. As a kid, Bernie will be remembered especially for his boisterous laughter.

A man who I only met a few times through my long friendship with Shaun, Bernie made an impression with kind conversation and true interest in his son and friend's interest. Loading our ski equipment to go slide down a metal rail Bernie encouraged our creativity and energy. This always resonated, I thought, he's different he really genuinely interested in his sons passion and made myself, a relative stranger, feel great. This is a wonderful man and I'm proud to have met him. My sincere condolences to the family, communities and friends who loved Bernie. ‘The world can use more people like Bernie Terrance Stanton Hanlon', may we all try.

Katherine and Shaun, Sending our sincere condolences to you both on the passing of your Dad.I was in total disbelief when Megan shared the news last night with me. Bernie was a good guy, always smiling, ready with a joke and always lending a hand when needed whether with fixing something or helping out on the water. To the wonderful family of a great man - kindly accept our sincerest condolences. Bernie was one of the warmest and kindest humans one could meet. He made this world a better place. He gave his all and and brought fairness, honesty, and integrity to the people he touched. Enjoyed our time together in Bedford Minor Hockey as well, he simply had a passion for helping others. He so often worked in quiet ways, however those that watched his patterns could see his fingerprints of gentleness. We are sure his family and friends will cherish the authentic moments of joy you shared together, he spoke highly of you all and he was so proud and grateful for those that were close to his heart.
