CARRIGAN, Perry Dean – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Perry Carrigan on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Antigonish on January 28, 1971, Perry was the son of Doris and Ansel "Sonnie" Carrigan of Port Hastings. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife and soul mate, Donna and daughter, Jessica (Jason), his pride and joy; siblings, Dawn (Rodney), Ottawa; Roger, Creignish Rear; Dale (Sherry), Stellarton; nephews, Evan (Amanda), Tyler (Jillian); nieces, Amber, Chelsea and Ciarra; precious grandnephew, Caden and adorable grandniece, Rose.
Also left to mourn are many extended family members, which include Perry’s in-laws, Paula (Alex), Gerard (Terri), Mary (Shawn), Malcolm, Donald (Tanya), nephew, Brennan and niece, Brooke.
Perry battled cancer for 7 ½ years with courage, strength, never complaining and living each day to the fullest. His motto was "it is what it is", never letting his sickness define him. Perry was determined to keep fighting to watch his daughter Jessica receive her BSC Nursing Degree, he was a proud father.
Perry was a true lover of snowmobiling and was a member of Cape Clear Snowmobile Club. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed snowmobile racing and sported many trophies over the years. Always with an Arctic Cat. Perry made many friends snowmobiling and held his snowmobile family close to his heart.
Perry was a dedicated employee of Eastlink for 27 years, which he took pride in his job. He looked forward to going to work each day.
Special thanks to all medical professionals from Port Hawkesbury to Halifax, who provided exceptional care for Perry during his battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 1, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 1:30 p.m. Monday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
