MacPhail, Donald John - Age 70 years of Blues Mills, Inverness Co. Passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, November 10, 2019. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Allan and Ada MacPhail. Donald was member of River Denys Presbyterian Church.
A loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be forever remembered. He was a member for many years of the Construction and General Workers Union, Local 92 and Labourer’s International Union, Local 1115, working in Eastern and Western Canada.
He is survived by his daughter, Ada (Shawn), Halifax; son, AARon, Edmonton; his former wife and friend, Margaret McCarthy; sisters, Alda (Lynn) Woods, Lower Sackville; Frances (Earle) MacPherson, Charlottetown; brother, Hugh (Natalie) MacPhail, Glenora; sister-in-law, Rena MacPhail, Upper River Denys; grandchildren, Chelsea and Cole MacPhail-McGee, Leelee Boucher and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Arnold and Gordon.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, November 15 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 16 in River Denys Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brian MacLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Upper River Denys Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
