MacLean, Mona Margaret - Age 83 years of Cleveland, Inverness Co. It with great sadness that we the family of Mona Margaret MacLean announce her passing on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in the QE ll Infirmary Site, Halifax. Mona was born in Point Tupper, Richmond Co. on October 11, 1936; she was a daughter of the late John David and Lida (LeBlanc) MacNeil.
Mona was a homemaker but for a short time she was a cook at the Pulp Mill in Point Tupper, also a cleaner at ACL, worked at Sobey’s and Frenchy’s in Auld’s Cove. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Port Hawkesbury. She loved baking and passed on many secret recipes. She loved to play 45’s and crib, and enjoyed a good conservation with family and friends. She spent the last 10 months living with daughter Linda and husband John Moloney.
Mona is survived by her children, Linda (John) Moloney, Blackstone Rd; Marilyn (Stephen) Hinkley, Halifax; Melody MacLean (Richie Chiasson), Port Hawkesbury; Thomas (Joan), Arichat; Gary, New Glasgow; Brian (Kathy) Mississauga, Ontario and John (Helen), Port Hawkesbury; Sisters, Martina (Francis) Lamey, Port Hawkesbury; Joan (Gary) MacRae, Lexington; Yvonne MacNeil (Don), Port Hawkesbury; Katie (Guy) Boutlier, Wallaceburg, Ontario; Stella and Beatrice both of Port Hawkesbury and Brother Russell (Jean), Lexington; grandchildren, Lindsay (Jim), Matthew, Amy, Crystal, Gary Jr. (Jackie), Arden (Eric), Thomas James (Leah), Brian (Heather), Brittany, Spencer (Sydney), Jenna (Matthew), Leeanne (Shady), Melissa (Andrew), Mallory, Caleb, Glenda (Robson), Thomas (Katie); great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Hope, Nikki, Owen, Evertt, Addy, Willard, Layla, Marice, Jack, Michael, Drew, Gabe, Jessie; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Mona was predeceased by her husband Thomas (1988), Great Grandson Sebastian, sisters Claire, Marie, one sister in infancy, brothers Johnny, Malcolm, Artie and Four brothers in infancy.
The family would like to Thank the Doctor’s and Staff at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the QEII Halifax Infirmary.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 24 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery.
