Edwards, William "Bill" Herridge of Port Hastings died Friday, September 13, 2019 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish following a brief illness. Born June 17, 1932, in Glace Bay, Bill was the only child of Ira and Geneva (Herridge) Edwards. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma (Keigan) Edwards; his daughter, Janet Lee (Wayne); his son, Bruce (Louise), his six grandchildren, Kyle, Joel, Corinne, Brent, Brooke, and Nicole; his two great-grandchildren, Bella and Briar. In addition to his parents, Ira and Geneva, he was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Charlene. Bill and Norma moved from Glace Bay to Port Hawkesbury in 1960 when Bill began his career with Stora Forest Industries and where he retired from in 1990. Throughout his working years, Bill was a very active member of his community belonging to the Port Hawkesbury Lions Club and as a church leader at Holy Trinity Anglican Church. His love of music also was a big part of his life and in addition to playing the guitar for many gatherings, he taught private lessons in his home for many years. Bill was known by all who met him, to be a kind and caring man who loved life to the fullest and valued the people he met along the way. To his family, he was an extremely loyal and dedicated son, husband, father and grandfather. His most important priority in life was his family and he took a very active role in the lives of his children and grandchildren. In retirement, Bill took great pride in his home and gardening on his property, and going for drives in the countryside. In recent years, he was very content to be around home and to be the primary caregiver for Norma, which he did with the utmost of love, compassion and selflessness. His legacy will be his character, his sense of humour and his love of family - he will never be forgotten by those who knew him and his memory will live long in the hearts of his family.
