Morgan, Florence Josephine - Age 81 years of Cleveland, Richmond Co. It is with deep sadness that we announced the death of Florence Morgan (MacDonald) of Cleveland, Cape Breton on February 21, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Florence was the fourth of nine children born to James R. and Elizabeth (Bessie) MacDonald of West Bay Road, Inverness County. A graduate of Mabou Convent School and Truro Normal College she lived and taught in Inverness County until her retirement at 55. She married Robert Morgan in 1960, and raised a family of nine. After the sudden death of Robert in 1983, she persevered and diligently worked to help all of her children fulfill their ambitions. The next few decades of Florence’s life were focused on her most prized possessions: her family and her faith. She was a devoted grandmother. Her family was blessed to experience the warmth of her love; the brunt of her sharp wit when warranted; and to be the lucky recipients of deals from yard sales. Her generosity extended into her local community usually in the form of a loaf of bread or a gumdrop cake. Her life consisted of these many acts of charity as she endeavoured to live her faith. Florence is survived by her children, Bob (Colleen) Morgan, Port Hastings; Annette (Brent), Hureauville; Vonnie, Dashwood, ON; Geraldine (Art), Grande Prairie, AB; John (Charlene), Grantville; Wally, Grantville; Sheila, Oromocto, NB; Michael (Su Jung), South Korea; Katrina (Archie), Fort McMurray, AB; special grandson, Trevor (Nina), Fort McMurray; twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Patsy Gillis, Prescott, ON; Dorothy (Donald) Arab, Halifax; Dan (Kathleen), Windsor, ON; sisters-in-law, Yvonne and Marie, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James R. and Bessie, her husband, Robert, her brothers, James, Ronald, Alex, and Blaise, and her sister, Catherine Rose Campbell. Visitation will be held in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2 - 9 p.m. Funeral will take place in St. Margaret’s Church, West Bay Road, Monday, February 25 at 11 a.m. with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating.
