WILLIAMS (Wight), Isabel Margaret – Age 78, Half Island Cove, Guysborough Co., passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Montague, P.E.I on July 12, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Helen (Aitken) Wight. Isabel loved to travel and did so visiting relatives in the States and throughout Canada. After retiring, Isabel and her late husband Leslie kept a trailer on her island where they'd spend much of their summers. Although the trailer is long gone, for the past 14 years she continued to make the trip on her own, 2 or 3 times a year. She would stay a week or so at a time catching up with friends and family.
Isabel was well known for her volunteer work at the various churches in and around Guysborough, providing service and home-made baked goods at funeral receptions, fundraisers, and card plays. She helped by working at the annual Mackerel Derby, the Chedabucto Fire Department, fund-raised and provided gifts & prizes for many Bingos, and the Annual Childrens' Christmas Party and every Christmas children near and far benefited from her gifts of hand-made toques & mittens. In 2016 she was recognized by her community and received an award from the Honourable Stephen McNeil, M.L.A. Premier of N.S. and Nova Scotia Community Services.
Isabel will be dearly missed by her family and adopted family, her beautiful Nova Scotia friends who loved her.
