NICHOLAS, William John – Age 49, We’koqma’q First Nation, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Pictou Landing, he was a son of the late John Noel and Julia (Clair) Nicholas. Surviving are his common in law wife, Lucille Bernard; daughter, Julia, We’koqma’q; son, Ayrton, We’koqma’q; step son, Randy Alex, Eskasoni; sisters, Mary Bridget Paul (Herman), Eskasoni; Mary Irene Parker (Kenny), Pictou Landing; Margaret Nicholas, Pictou Landing; Noreen (John) Milleau, Big Cove, NB; Fran Nicholas (Everett Savary), Pictou Landing; Janet Stevens (Dwayne), Eskasoni; Shirley Prosper (Peter deceased), Eskasoni; brother, Thomas Clair (Esther), Big Cove, NB; adopted mother, Murielle (Fraser) Parkes, Montreal; adopted siblings, Deborah Parkes, Daniel Parkes and James Parkes; numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Douglas Simon Clair, Joseph Simon Clair, John Roger Nicholas; sister, Agnes Nicholas; adopted sister, Penelope Parkes. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday at John Gerard Googoo’s residence 86 Subdivision Rd, We’koqma’q First Nation. He will then be transferred on Sunday to rest mawi’tamk after 1 p.m. at 35 Subdivision Rd. We’koqma’q. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday from Blessed St. Katari Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, We’koqma’q with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Cremation will follow.
