MacLEAN, Bernard Gerard "Bernie" – Canso. It is great sadness that we the family of Bernard (Bernie) Gerard MacLean announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday, April 25th, 2018, at the age of 72. Bernie will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara and his children, David (Michelle), Jason (Colette), Joanne (Donnie), John (Amanda), Robbie, Dwayne, Jamie (Cathy), and Teddy. Puppy will never be forgotten by his many grandkids, Chance, Lachlan, Aiden, Jack, Bria, Mackie, Rylie, Druhan, Joel, Tiffany, Kennedy, Jessica, Danielle, Adam, Aaron, Madison, Taylor, Andrew, Marissa and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carmie (Bennie); brothers, Cyril (Marg), Joseph (Grace) and sister in-law, Joyce and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Neil and Catherine MacLean and brother, Rodney. Bernie had many loves and hobbies. He loved to fish, especially with his boys and during his time up North with the many friends he made there. His impact while teaching and coaching volleyball reach far beyond words. He had a strong work ethic, morals, and wisdom that he instilled in so many. He was a phenomenal athlete and in his younger years he had the privilege of playing on the 1966-67 St. F. X. football team. During that time he won the Vanier Cup, which was the only year St. F. X. ever obtained that title. In 2006, he was inducted into the NS Sports Hall of Fame. He thoroughly enjoyed his years teaching and was proud to be a Principal at all the facilities he was employed. His staff and students made this time so memorable for him. His passion and love for his family showed in his hard work and dedication. He worked hard creating a family gathering place in Washabuck, which his family will enjoy for years to come. A special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at the QEII Infirmary for taking such good care of Dad in his final days.
