MacAULAY, Florence Catherine "Tootsie" - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of "Tootsie" MacAulay, 84, of Whycocomagh, who departed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, April 19, 2018, in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. The daughter of the late John and Mary Florence MacInnis, Tootsie was born in Whycocomagh, where she later married Willie MacAulay, raised her children, made memories with her grandchildren, and looked after "the boys" at the Esso throughout the years with her daily "lunch." She was an avid member of the Stewart United Church and UCW for many years, contributing to their fundraisers and events. Her home was always spotless and her oven was always on, making her much-loved brownies, shortbread, and other recipes that she knew by heart. She will be remembered as a resilient, kind, strong-willed, peppermint-loving, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Mel), BC; Heather, Timberlea; Curtis (Connie), Aberdeen; and Dale (Eileen), Whycocomagh, seven grandchildren, Chrystal (Paul), Kelly (Justin), Karen, Breann (Wade), Ryan, Shelby, Jane, and great-grandson, Kian Rhyno. Tootsie was predeceased by her parents, husband, Willie (2005), and brothers, Murdock and Jackie. The family would like to thank Dr. Bennett, the nursing staff and palliative care of the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care they provided for Tootsie over these past few weeks Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 2-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday from Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Rachel Campbell officiating. Burial to follow at Stewartdale Cemetery.
