MacDonald, John Daniel "John Dan" - Age 80 years of St. Peter’s, Richmond Co., With broken hearts we are sad to announce that John Dan (Tupper) passed away on Saturday February 24, 2018 in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in St Peter’s, on July 6 1937, he was a son of the late John Alexander & Jessie (Morrison) MacDonald. He was a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church. John was an operating engineer on the St. Lawrence Seaway, on the Seal Island Bridge in Cape Breton & on the Canso Causeway. He then went to work as a pipe fitter for Stora Forest Industries. Retiring after 36 years in 1998. John played ball with the St. Peter’s Royals & spent many summers coaching minor ball. He was a founding member of the St Peter’s District Volunteer Fire Department and he was a member of CEP Local 972. John Dan will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His stories were so entertaining. He loved to go for walks around town not because he would go far, but because he would have a chance to talk to everyone along the way. John Dan was a diehard Toronto Maple Leaf fan and was loyal to the end. John Dan is survived by his loving wife of 51 years. Predeceased by son, Danny; sister, Margaret "Manga", Katherine "Lovey"; brother, Douglas; sister- in-law, Elizabeth. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 27 from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 26 Centennial Street, St Peter’s. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, February 28 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Fr. Antolin Asor officiating, cremation to follow. Burial in the Parish cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please.
