DALLIEN, Peter John- Age 92, Port Hawkesbury, died peacefully in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones. Peter is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; sons, Peter Jr., Kevin (Theresa); daughter, Lise (Shawn); grandsons, Matthew, Nick & Ryan; granddaughter, Madison; sister, Louise (Desmond) and many nieces and nephews. Peter was the eldest son of Peter John Sr. & Elizabeth (Norwood) Dallien of Sydney. He was predeceased by brother, William and sister, Gladys. Peter was born and raised in Sydney and obtained his Engineering Degree from Dalhousie University. After graduating, he moved to Bathurst, taking a job as an Engineer. There he met his loving wife Yvonne (Bertin) and eventually moved his family to Port Hawkesbury in 1961, to work as an engineer at Stora Pulp & Paper Mill, Point Tupper. He worked at Stora for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. Peter was a self-taught photographer and enjoyed taking pictures of all the beauty that nature created. His talent also included developing his own prints in his home-made dark room. His skills also included designing woodworking projects for his home and family members. He was a big sports fan and enjoyed playing golf. Peter and Yvonne enjoyed traveling the world and exposed their children to many wonderful sites. Peter’s enjoyment for life, love for his family and many friends, and will always remain in the hearts and memory of those who knew him. Funeral mass will take place Monday, November 6, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Upon the wish of the family, there will be no visitation and a private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
