BOND, Mary Bernice – Age 90, Little Dover, Guysborough Co., passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Little Dover, she was a daughter of the late John Alexander and Lena Mae (Gurney) Casey.
Bernice was a member of Star of the Sea Parish and was a member of the choir for many years. She was a Wolf Cub Leader for 10 years and was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canso Fire Department. Also she was a member of the Nova Scotia Rhythm Cloggers and was an active volunteer within the community.
Surviving are her daughter, Theresa Stevens (Lynn Mossman), Rose Bay; sons, Wayne (Marie) Sullivan, Terry (Wanda) Sullivan, Frank (Della) Sullivan, all of Canso; Graham (Jeanette) Bond, Fox Island Main; Michael (Donnette) Bond, Lantz; Carl (Mary Louise) Bond, Canso; sisters, Ruth Doyle, Little Dover; Ruby Horne, Antigonish; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Francis Havelock Sullivan; second husband, John "Jack" Bond; son, Van Gerard Bond; brothers, Carl, Harry, Delmore, Clyde; sisters, Nora, Pauline, Eileen and Lucy.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
