Borden, Edith Patricia - age 93 of Canso, Guysborough Co., passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso surrounded by her loving family. Edith was born in Hazel Hill, Guysborough Co. she was a daughter of the late Laura Louise (Lawrence) and James George Johnson. She was a former employee of the former Hazel Hill Nursing Home. She was the oldest member of the Shamrock Club; Edith attended many meetings and functions sponsored by the club. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her. Edith is survived by her sons, Carl (Debbie), Wayne, Russell (Hattie), John (Janet), Kevin; daughters, Ida (Jim), Mildred, Carol Ann (Thomas), Anita. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; sons, Lorimer, Lawrence "Buck", Vernon and Gary; daughters, Judith and Jean; brothers, Benjamin, James, Russell, Vernon, John, Leigh and Ruben; sisters, Dora, Ida, Esther "Lou" and Muriel. Visitation will take place Sunday, January 10, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, January 11, from Canso United Baptist Church with Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery at a later date.
