It is with heartfelt sorrow that we the Borden family announce the death of our loving father, Arthur H Borden of Lincolnville, who passed away peacefully in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital, on Thursday, December 17, 2015, surrounded by his family. Born in Guysborough Road, on July 17, 1925, he was a son of the late Henry and Sarah (Reddick) Borden. Arthur retired from Williams Bros. Ltd in Barney’s River. He loved playing the harmonica, the game of horseshoes and dancing. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his children, Edward, Donkin; Pastor Clara Jordan, Sunnyville; Eunice (Wallie) Byard, Sunnyville; Alice, Dartmouth; Henry, Regina; Ida (Ray), Truro; Florence (Blair), Lincolnville; Michael (Janice), Dartmouth; Robert (Miranda), Toronto; Marilyn (Richard), Sydney; Theresa (Peter) Pottie, Halifax; Katherine (Edwin) Okodike, Gatineau, Que; 55 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Lora (Izzard) Borden; sons, Anthony and Francis; sisters, Ida, Ada and Alice; 2 granddaughters. We would like to thank all the Doctors and Nurses of Guysborough Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care they gave our dad. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday from Tracadie United Baptist Church with Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
