BROPHY, Anne "Shirley" – Mulgrave, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at home. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Bertram and Christina (Guthro) Woodman. Shirley was a retired long-time employee of the Skye Motel and of the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union. She was an avid member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave. She will be well missed by her card players and was an avid bingo player. Shirley loved hockey and baseball and she especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ralston; daughters, Carol Anne (Robin) MacKinnon, Georgetown, Ont; Sheila, Mulgrave; sons, Billy Joe (Judy), Mulgrave; Douglas, Cole Harbour; brothers, Edward Woodman, Mulgrave; Francis Woodman, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Melissa, Natalie, Winston, Miranda, Jacqueline, Nicole, Ashley, Nicholas, Adam, Noah and Logan; great-grandchildren, Luke, Connor, Ava, Vada, Kennedy and Kayden. She was predeceased by sisters, Margaret (Jack) Bradbury, Jessie (Pete) MacDonald, Philamena; brother, Bertram; sisters-in-law, Delores Woodman and Elsie Woodman. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place or to St. Lawrence Cemetery Fund.
