Borden, Vernon Benjamin – 67, Canso, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at home. Vernon was born in Antigonish on April 17, 1945 he was a beloved son of Edith (Johnson), of Canso and the late Stanley Borden.
Vernon was a fisherman and worked on trawlers for many years. Dearly loved by friends and family, he is survived by his mother Edith, Canso; sisters, Jean Schrader, Canso; Ida Borden, Fredericton, NB; and Mildred Howe, New Glasgow; Anita Parker, Halifax; and Carol Ann Parker, Lake Charlotte; brothers, Carl, Mt. Uniacke; Wayne and Russell both of Hazel Hill; Kevin and John both of Canso; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Stanley; sister, Judith and brothers, Lawrence "Buck", Gary and Lorimer.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso, on Friday, May 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and from where the Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, with Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Vernon may be made to a charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to: www.haverstocks.com
