O’BRIEN, Jack Lennis-89, West Bay, Richmond Co., passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Zurich, Hay Township, Ontario, he was a son of the late Lennis George and Mary Pearl (Fairbairn) O’Brien.
Jack served 30 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving on the HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonadventure. Jack was a Solider, Sailor and a great storyteller and was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Jack retired as Chief Petty Officer. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, St. Peter’s and a member of West Bay United Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his daughters, Jean MacDonald, West Bay; Mary (Edmund) Tucker, Mount Uniacke; sons, Michael (Evelyn), Windsor, NS; Daniel (Patricia), Winnipeg; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Spencer); brothers, Doug and Patrick; sister, Jean.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in West Bay Cemetery at a later date. No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
