Campbell, Kenneth John "Kenny" - Age 89, Malagawatch, Inverness Co. Kenneth’s family is saddened to announce his passing in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Kenny was born in Malagawatch on Dec. 19, 1925; a son of the late Alexander and Barbara Rebecca (MacFadyen) Campbell.
Kenneth is survived by his sister, Elsie MacLeod (the late Malcolm), Estmere; brother, Lawrence Campbell (Christina) formerly of Marble Mountain; nieces, Barbara Jean Holland (Michael), Christene Young (Gord), Cathy Benson (David), Iris Campbell-MacLean (Glenn), Louise MacLeod, and Jill Campbell-Miller (David); nephews, Kenneth Singer (Marlie), James Campbell (Shelley), Alexander MacLeod, David Campbell (Merriel), Earl MacLeod (Rose), Bryan Campbell and John A "Sandy" Campbell; sisters-in-law, Norma Campbell, Charlotte Campbell and several great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Gordon and John and sister, Annabelle Singer.
Kenneth was a member and elder of St. Matthew’s United Church, Marble Mountain. He was a farmer, woodsman and former employee of Nova Scotia Power, all the while caring for his Mother until her death in 1981. With a lifelong interest in the world around him and a memory second to none, he had a great store of history at the ready that he gladly shared with those interested. Kenneth enjoyed card games and social gatherings; he appreciated nature and had an abiding love for children.
The family would like to thank Kenneth’s neighbors' and friends whose kindness and help allowed him to remain on his beloved hill until shortly before his passing. Thanks also to Dr. Chow and staff for the care and comfort that made his last days very special. He thought the world of you all.
Cremation has taken place, a service and interment in Malagawatch Cemetery will follow at a later date. Donations may be made to Victoria County Memorial Hospital or charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
