Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Currie, Michael Brady - On February 5, 2022, Michael passed away at home surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Michael was born on June 15, 1969 on Father’s Day. From a very young age, his love of the outdoors was clear to everyone who knew him. He found his happy place in the family’s bungalow in Lake Ainslie where he mastered everything to do with fishing and hunting. Five years ago, Michael met the love of his life, Christine who nurtured and shared his love of the outdoors. Christine and Michael completed each other and were the perfect pair. They had a compassion for one another that was beyond special. From the day they met to Michael’s last breath Christine was his partner, support and friend. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Christine and children – Joseph, Frankie, Issac, and Angie. Michael’s children were his pride and joy never missing an opportunity to take them on outdoor adventures. He loved sharing his skills for hunting, fishing, cooking and fixing things. He is also survived by his parents, Mike and Sharon Currie; his sister Kerry (Tony Harding); and sister-in-law, Jennifer Maloney. His incredible love extended to his nephews and nieces, Campbell, Griffin, Hayley, Clare, Nolan and Shaye. He was always looking to share the outdoors with them. Michael also had forever friends in Roddie MacDonald and Donnie MacInnis who gave him unending support and more adventures and stories then seem possible in his short lifetime. Any place Michael lived or worked; he was a helper. At 6’4", he was larger than life in size and character. He could fix anything – with a supply of random parts that no one else would see a use for. During his cancer journey, he refurbished a fishing boat and a trailer that allowed him the last opportunity to put his special touch on a project. Michael was the person that you could reach out to at any time for a helping hand. He had many friends and special neighbors who could tell countless stories of the time that Michael showed up to save the day. He was an old soul who was always looking out for others. He loved fishing and hunting but enjoyed even more sharing the food and stories that came from his trips. Thank you to Dr. Ritter, palliative care, especially Lori Ann Gillis, Inverness hospital staff, and home care who supported Michael in his cancer journey with compassion, care, and dignity in every moment. Their care allowed Michael the ability to be at home surrounded by his loving family. In keeping with his sharing nature Michael may have given Dr Ritter some pointers on where to fish. It is Michael’s wish that donations be made to Central Inverness County Palliative Care Society in lieu of flowers. A funeral mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
