Cole, James Martin "Toby" - Canso, Guysborough Co. Age 75 years. Passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Martin and Wardie (Fitzgerald) Cole. Toby was a fisherman all his life.
Surviving are his daughters, Virginia (Robert) Locas, Clementsport; Melinda Cole, Canso; son, Patrick, Stirling, Ont.; sisters, Mary Vargo, Rose Feltmate, and Margaret Armsworthy; brother, Gerald; grandchildren, Logan and Kairo Locas, Damien and Destiny Hammons, and Harrison Cole; and several nieces and nephews. Toby spent a lot of time at sea during the 80s and 90s catching groundfish off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland to provide for his family. Then switched to inshore lobstering with his brother at home here in Canso. Toby was always very humble. He loved watching baseball and hockey. He loved the Blue Jays and Ottawa Senators as he gave up on those Maple Leafs a long time ago. Toby loved to cook, sailing around the Canso Islands in his boat, fishing, and country music. He loved spending time with his family and loved living here in Canso next to the sea.
In keeping with Toby’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.
